First Falls

Gravel & Gold

Design: 2012

Collections: Spring 2013, Fall 2015

"First Falls" draws on San Francisco sources such as old Fillmore Auditorium posters with rollicking hippie graphics, the rainbow flag, and also Roy Lichtenstein’s painterly halftone.
The print first appeared in the Gravel & Gold Spring 2013 collection. It was re-issued for the Fall 2015 collection inspired by architect Gae Aulenti. One colorway was taken from a blue bar table in Aulenti's Milanese apartment. The other was inspired by the local Golden Gate landscape and bridge.
Originally printed by Zoo-Ink Silk Screen in San Francisco. Later rotary screen printed by Prima-Tex Industries, Los Angeles.
