MARCH 2 EAT Saturday, 4-6pm
ART OPENING: Kitchari Infinity with Wendy Van Wagner & Joe Meade
Kitchari is a traditional Ayurvedic dish and the word means mixture. In this case, it’s a combination of rice, mung bean, vegetables and spices prepared as a warm, one pot meal. Its traditionally served with a spiced yogurt and fruit chutney.
By Joe’s account, he was 17 when he met the Hare Krishnas at Main Beach in Laguna and was first seduced by the generosity of Prasad; food prepared with love and offered to god.
Wendy learned the power of the meal when she had her first kitchen in a hippie co-op in college and would make trays of butternut squash and gobs of goats cheese pasta, as one does when she is 20 and discovers Trader Joe’s and gardening at the same time. Food + People = Joy.
They collaborate to feed friends, family, monks, artists and others in a loving way. Food in its honest state interests them. Feral, wild, grown, fermented, dried, plain. Noticing wild food growing despite being in built circumstances, provides an honest thrill. Recently Wendy found a patch of chard growing in the parking lot at Top Golf in San Jose which reminded her that the essential elements of life persevere.
Wendy is a kitchen mentor to a handful of young people in Nevada City, teaching cooking and providing a space to understand what you enjoy as the guide for deepening your kitchen practice and your life. Joe’s art practice explores relationships in all their forms. He has a particular talent for finding the best objects and makes collections that form a narrative. They approach preparing kitchari as a manifestation of the coming together of ingredients that create a relationship in their own right and eating kitchari together creates community.
Enjoy the alchemical harmony of the simplest ingredients prepared with the highest of vibes. Kitchari infinity!

Wanderbread Bolinas: A Walking Meditation
From your guide, Barrett Purdum:
Come celebrate the Spring Equinox with a guided six mile circumabolation of Bolinas.
In 1965, Beat poets Gary Snyder, Allen Ginsberg and Phillip Whalen walked around Mt. Tam clockwise, chanting at ten different places in order to honor the mountain - beginning a local tradition.
We will bring and share snacks, walk around Bo clockwise, bring things to read, chant and encant - or not - and joyfully bestow love upon this special piece of land. Afterwards, we can eat pizza and drink wine at eleven downtown if you'd like.
The hike will meet at 10AM in front of 11 Wharf Road. We will walk for about three hours and return to the same place. If you have any questions, please email me: barrettpurdum@gmail.com

*MARCH 30 DRAW Saturday, 1-4pm
From your guide, Rachel Kaye:
Join me for an engaging two-and-half hour workshop that delves into the realm of drawing, where we will seamlessly transition between observation and abstraction. Throughout this session, I will guide you through a duo of drawing exercises: the traditional approach of still life studies and the innovative exploration of non-representational concepts, leading to the cultivation of abstract drawing techniques.
With a strong emphasis on the process and a spirit of playful experimentation, you will depart with a collection of drawings. These pieces may not all be masterpieces, but they will undoubtedly enhance your grasp of abstract mark-making, providing an enjoyable journey of exploration.
Open to participants of all skill levels, whether you’re a novice to drawing or an experienced artist.
Fee: TBD — Please sign up by emailing cassiemcgettigan@gmail.com
